End of sufferings, to a better life - R.I.P. Uncle Goh He fought a battle with the evil cancer cells. The last time I saw him was the week before CNY. I went to 拜年 and he returned my mandarin oranges with an ang pow. He was still laughing and joking with me, but I could see his uneasiness when his bags were leaking. He felt the pain of his wound being "eaten" up by the gastric juice, but he endured. He's my buddy's dad. A friendly man with eccentric temper. He's nice despite all the teasing I've "suffered" these years, but I know he was just teasing and he tease me because he is comfortable with me. I saw him for the first time after he was admitted into the hospital and discovered to have stomach cancer. Although he seems alright and joking to me every time I pay him a visit, like most cancer patients, he also can be suicidal. He had negative thoughts and told them to my buddy, but there's nothing she could do, other than to lecture him or to feel pressured herself. Having a cancer patient in the family is very hard for the family themselves. High medical bills, continuous mental stress, physical fatigue (by travel to and fro to visit them and to do whatever they can to make the patient feel better) and many more contributions that a normal outsider like me could not feel or understand. When he was still around, I thought the least I could do was to ensure him that his daughter has friends, and not just friends, but friends that she can depend on during her bad times and when she needed help, like then. I feel sad whenever I see my buddy so tired and weary. Though she is still cheery when she's out with us and can joke and play around with us, but the weariness that was stuck on her face is visible. Dark eye circles, puffy eyes, skinnier body were what we saw on her. What can I do to make her feel better at this period was what that often pass through my mind. Other than hanging out with her when she's able to, I can't think of any other things to help. Now that he's gone, it's not say a bad thing either. Now, he's away from the sufferings and pain. Now the family is finally at ease. Now they had at least spent the last few hours of his life by his side. I hope he's up there, feeling a lot better. No pain, no worries, no more sufferings, but blessings to his family and looking after them from up above. The family is doing well with his passing away and I reckon they will be even stronger after he's gone. They will. May strength be with them. Life is like that. It's no easy task. It needs to be built, be understood, delicately handled, effort put in, monitored, maintained, backuped and properly disposed. It is almost like anything that we are using right now. All these make us learn to be a better person for ourselves and others. If any of these steps were to be missed out, things will go wrong and it will be hard to make things right again. If now, you are not of good terms with your loves, try talking to them again and communicate. If you are alright with your loves, make the relationship even better. If you are always looking out and taking good care of them, do continue that way. We all need someone to be a whole, same goes to everyone. Don't be stingy with your love and praises. Praising someone is easy, but how you take other people's praises is hard. Learn to accept, digest and reciprocate.

It's all about FIREWORKS This time round of Batam trip was to play with fireworks. In Singapore, launching of fireworks is illegal. Of course not including those national events, such as National Day Parade. We had a lot of fun and it's pretty scary at the beginning. But after some time, when you are used to the loud blast of the firing, you will be easier to concentrate on appreciating the art of the fireworks. Some pictures are not taken properly because I was shocked by the blasting. Some of them, to be honest, I am pretty proud of them. They are beautiful pieces that I've ever taken. :) ![]() When we were at the temple. ![]() Nice lanterns, with my sis. ![]() Our first meal there. Get Fat instead of Lose Fat Intended to go swimming with XH. Was discussing if we should play the slides first before we swim and upon reaching the entrance, I realise a weird phenomenon - the ticket machine not working. After much reading from the notice board, we realised it was CLOSED! WTF!!! So we left the pool and headed Compasspoint for dinner. Walked around the mall and decided to set our butt on the chairs of Jack's Place. Pricey it is, but I got cravings for steaks. Don't blame me. Blame the taste bud.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, HUMANS! On the 7th day of Chinese New Year, it's the birth day of all humans. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU! On this day, everyone will Lou Hei (a chinese dish with colourful vegetables and raw fish) and have dinner together. When everyone are mixing the Lou Hei, they will say auspicious sentences and wishes and after the mix, everyone will grab a plate and take some to eat. This was meant for good luck throughout the year. It is a very fun Chinese dish that kids or even adults love to eat with friends and family, or even colleagues! My family reserved 4 tables at this Kimly Seafood Restaurant, located at 18@Tradehub21, Boon Lay Way. It's a kopitiam area with many stalls. And at one corner is where the restaurant's kitchen is located. It's not air-conditioned, but cooling enough. The food they serve are not bad, but I think it's pretty pricey. Overall, it's still an acceptable choice for family dinner. As long as everyone's happy, who cares how much it cost? (i do care actually. LOL)

TIC TAC TOE Nope. I am not talking about the game that everyone knows how to play. I am talking about the newly-opened western stall at 45 Syed Alwi Road, at the junction of Townshend Road. I am introducing it, not just because it's opened by my friends, but more of the reason of their very delicious food they serve. Western stalls, common in SG, but not many do they have good sauce to go with tender meats. Not only that, they also serve Nasi Lemak for those who are not so in favour of those fried potatoes as their source of carbohydrates. They also sell side dishes like calamari, chicken wings, nuggets, cheesy fries, etc. But what's special is that, they also have uncommon sides like otah, samosa, spring rolls, fishball, and more! Best of all, they put in a lot of effort in making their food special, in the sense that, the owners actually bought normal mayo and mix in their secret recipe to make it go even better with the fried food you order! So why not pay a visit to the stall and have a good try of the food they have! You may get addicted!!! But do take note of their working hours. It's more for the late-night owls who craves for western cuisines. Stall Name: Tic Tac Toe Location: 45 Syed Alwi Rd (at the junction of Townshend Rd) Map showing location. How to get there: Take any SBS bus from Bugis Junction towards Lavender Alight at 2nd stop Facing the road, turn left and go straight till you see Mohammad Sultan Rd Walk along Mohammad Sultan Rd to Syed Alwi Rd. By the 2nd junction, should be the junction of Townshend Rd. YOU ARE THERE! At the coffeeshop! Operating Hours: 5pm to 1am (weekdays), 5pm to 2am (Fri & Sat)

Ong Lai! (means Pineapple, also means Luck! Come! ) Wow! Time flies. This is the 7th year that we are celebrating CNY together! Although these 3 years, Michelle was not around in SG to celebrate with us, but we can feel her~ *sounds eerie* This time round, back to XH's house for steamboat and hot plate. Awesome. We simply love to visit her place for reunion dinner. Tell me how many people in SG get to eat outside of their flat, with such spacious area? Not much. Probably those that stays the same kinda unit in her block. LOL. We had Mahjong this year and this is the only time when we actually finished the 4 winds. HAHA! We used to give up halfway because we want to go somewhere or watch movies. LOL. I've won $0.60 and I am happy about it!!! :D Simply love these girls to bits!

Gong Hei Fatt Choy!!! First day of Chinese New Year. Do you know I've been waiting for you for so long? You are so near, yet so far! *chuckles* I've been waiting for real. Why? Because of all the goodies, like the food, the gatherings, the ang pows, the new clothes and many more good things that can happen only during this festive season! What more can I demand? It's all-so-good already! Usual family gathering at Richie's place on CNY Day 1, yummy bak kwa (BBQ Pork), Old comedies, noisy children and aunties, Mahjong sessions, midnight movies, it's like so WOW! Feel like back to when we were younger, but with a better financial support now. Not to miss out camwhoring with cute cousins, and also the irritating ones.

Reunite, We Shall Be Yearly, every family will gather around their dining table and have a sumptuous dinner. No matter how busy they are everyday, Chinese New Year's Eve is always the day when everyone slow down their pace and catch up with their family. Of course, it's not exceptional case for me and my family. We had our reunion dinner in advance because my sis usually will eat with her in-laws and my dar will go back m'sia on the eve. Then my parents, me and my bro will eat again on the eve as a mini-reunion dinner. This year, we don't have any lavish dinner, but a simple fare. Vegetable, herbal roasted duck, mushrooms and homemade chrysanthemum tea. It's good enough for my humble family with humble appetite. LOL. I am contented, at least. |
